Jay is a Principal and Founder of Cogence Group, P.C. Working on a headline commercial litigation case with EY Sydney in 1990 ignited his desire to specialize in litigation support services. He took on the challenge of moving back to his home town and becoming the first economic damages expert to create a successful, sustainable, and respected litigation and business valuation services practice in Portland.
Before Cogence Group, Jay spent 12 years as a shareholder in the CPA firm Thompson, Wiest & Sickler, P.C. and nine years before that working for the “Big 4” international accounting firms of Deloitte and EY, in Portland and Sydney, Australia. He has testified nearly 190 times as an expert witness in since 1994, in Federal court, State court, and private arbitrations.
